As Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey slowly start moving out of hibernation and Christmas trimmings start making their way out the garage, ‘tis the season for family and friends to reconnect and reminisce on that year that has been. For those with demanding careers, it’s even more so important to slow down and take stock of the things that really matter. A couple of months ago, we published an article titled “The importance of me time”, and what better time to revisit this concept than during the festive season?
At Arysteq, one of our values is relationships. The importance of relationships stems from the fact that we believe passionately in the power of spending time with clients, for in understanding their needs, we can innovate and pioneer the exceptional. This takes me back to when the business was officially started in 2018, and all we had was a couple of desks, a team of five, and 120 sqm of office space. Setting up meetings with industry leaders was a tough ask because no one knew who we were, and relationships were barely on a first-name basis. Meetings were granted out of courtesy, and all our attention was focused on leaving a lasting impression on our prospective clients. Not the easiest ask of a bunch of investment professionals, but a necessary one.
Fast forward to today, and I think I can speak for our clients in saying that we have built strong relationships with each of them. Having strong business relationships leads me to another value of Arysteq, being trust, and without that, we will most probably end up going nowhere slowly. In the investment world, you are only as good as your last return figure, and every morning, you wake up having to start from zero because, as the saying goes, “past performance is not indicative of future results”. This is where trust comes in, and only clients that are truly connected to our philosophy and process will believe in us during periods of market turmoil. This again draws me to a key pillar of our investment philosophy, namely investing as a team, which drives the way we think about investments and seeks to bridge the gap between psychology and investing. Our relationships with colleagues are just as crucial as those with clients, and having these connections within the team can be tied back to how well we are able to service our clients.
Relationships are, however, not only important in the business world but also in our personal lives. I was taught that you become who you surround yourself with. Different people tend to fulfil different roles in our lives, but it ultimately comes down to the quality of these connections and having our cups filled. The festive season is a time of rekindling relationships that may have dwindled along the way, spending quality time with family and friends, and taking a well-deserved time out from our busy lives. As cliché as it may sound, it is during these brief periods that we realise how blessed we are and that the people that matter the most are those around the table when the gammon is being carved. Showing that we care is sometimes as simple as being intentional and present.
Research proves that a sense of belonging and feeling connected enhances both our mental and physical well-being. We recently hosted our inaugural mental well-being day at the office and covered everything from mental, physical, emotional, psychological, occupational, intellectual, environmental, and financial well-being. Caring for our loved ones takes many forms, and one we tend to ignore the most is making sure our financial affairs are in order. Being able to completely switch off and connect on an emotional level requires peace of mind in all areas of our life. Knowing that you can trust the person looking after your investments can take a huge load off your shoulders. That is where Arysteq comes in. With our experienced team of suitably qualified professionals, we believe we can provide a world-class service to you. Our products are specifically designed to meet the needs of our clients, and we are confident that we have the right product for you. So, before you set your out-of-office response for the holidays, visit our website at www.arysteq.com, and let’s build a connection that will last a lifetime.
