Table Tennis Series

Joint initiative sees 62% increase in participation as schools across Namibia embrace the sport

The Arysteq and Simonis Storm Schools Table Tennis Series has wrapped up another successful year, marking three years of bringing young Namibians together through sport, teamwork, and healthy competition. What began as a modest initiative in 2023 has grown into a movement that is reshaping youth table tennis across the country.

In 2025, the series hosted six tournaments, attracting an average of 60 players per event. This represents a remarkable 62 percent increase in participation since the series began, with players coming from schools across the Khomas Region and beyond. One of the most encouraging developments has been the growing involvement of young women. Female participation reached 40 percent this year, surpassing international benchmarks for gender inclusion in table tennis!

The tournament series is a collaboration between two respected Namibian financial institutions, Arysteq Asset Management and Simonis Storm, both of which share a deep commitment to community development and the growth of local talent. Through their joint foundation, the two companies have created a platform that prioritises participation, skill development, and access over pure competition, ensuring that every young person who picks up a bat feels welcomed and valued.

During 2025, the series brought vibrant energy to venues across the region, with five tournaments hosted at Wanderers Sports Hall in Windhoek and one in Rehoboth. Beyond the tournaments themselves, coaching clinics were introduced to help develop foundational skills and encourage more learners to try the sport. The result has been a ripple effect, with new players joining through peer influence and one additional school officially adopting table tennis as part of its sporting programme.

The partnership between Arysteq and Simonis Storm reflects a shared belief that investing in young people today creates stronger communities tomorrow. By supporting grassroots sport, the initiative is helping to build confidence, discipline, and teamwork among Namibian youth while providing them with opportunities to excel in an accessible and inclusive environment.

Looking ahead, there is already planning for an expanded series for 2026, with the goal of extending the tournament into additional regions across Namibia. The vision is to bring the sport to learners in Kharas, Erongo, Otjozondjupa, Oshikoto, and Oshana, creating pathways for even more young people to discover their potential through table tennis.

The team behind the series is excited to continue growing the sport and enriching more lives through initiatives that bring communities together and inspire excellence. With strong momentum, dedicated partners, and an ever-growing community of players and supporters, the Arysteq and Simonis Storm Tournament Series is poised to make an even greater impact in the years to come.
